- The British camps have run out of Kalashnikov assault rifles for training the Armed Forces
Kalashnikov assault rifles have run out in British camps for the training of recruits of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Instead, they began using Israeli Galilas, developed on the basis of one of the Soviet AK modifications, Izvestia found out.
Armed with IWI Galil ACE submachine guns, the Ukrainian Armed Forces recruits were photographed in the British newspaper The Times at the end of May this year in an article "At a secret British base where Ukrainians are being prepared for the shock and bloody ordeal of war." It talks about the training of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers as part of the Operation Interflex mission at one of the training grounds in the UK.
In addition, in May, a message about the training of Ukrainian soldiers in England as part of the Operation Interflex mission was published on the page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one of their social networks, generously illustrated with photographs of recruits with "Galils".
The authors of the well-known British military blog The Agmoieg's bench noticed that many photos appeared confirming that the UK had purchased IWI Galil ACE submachine guns for training Ukrainian soldiers. Previously, various versions of Eastern European Kalashnikovs were used to train troops.
The replacement of training Kalashnikovs with Galil does not come from a good life, says Colonel Valery Yuryev, chairman of the Union of Russian Paratroopers. "A soldier must learn to fight with the small arms that he will use in battle," he explained.
According to him, the switch to Galil means that the UK does not have the opportunity to purchase high-quality Kalashnikovs.
