Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the national team of Russian schoolchildren who won prizes at the 36th International Biology Olympiad in the Philippines. The text of the telegram was published on the Kremlin's website.

"Dear Zakhar Vladimirovich, Alikhan Sansyzbaevich, Vera Mikhailovna and Makar Andreevich! Congratulations on your excellent performance at the 36th International Biological Olympiad," the message reads.

The Head of State noted that the participants of the Olympiad had shown decent results in the fight against strong rivals from 77 countries. Putin stressed that the students had confirmed the high potential of Russian education and conveyed his gratitude to their teachers.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on July 26 that Moscow schoolchildren had won gold, silver and bronze medals at the International Biology Olympiad in the Philippines. According to him, Vera Krasnoperova from school No. 57 won a gold medal, her classmate Zakhar Degterenko won a silver medal, and Alikhan Zhangaziev from the school of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence won a bronze medal.
