Amur Tiger Center and IYER congratulate on the International Tiger Day
International Tiger Day is celebrated worldwide on July 29. To draw attention to the conservation of Russia's wildlife and the work of domestic specialists who have dedicated their lives to its protection, the Amur Tiger Center and the MAER media holding launched congratulations at Russia's largest media facades.
In 2025, International Tiger Day marks its 15th anniversary. The holiday was established at the International Forum on Issues Related to the Conservation of the Tiger on Earth ("Tiger Summit") in St. Petersburg.
"In 2010, the Declaration on Tiger Conservation was signed by representatives of 13 countries where tigers live: Russia, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Laos. At the same time, the participants approved the first Global Tiger Restoration Program, which outlined the measures necessary to preserve the rare predator and its habitats. After that, national programs and strategies for predator conservation were developed in the countries of the tiger's range, and active work began," says Sergey Aramilev, General Director of the Amur Tiger Center.
International Tiger Day helps to draw attention to the conservation of nature far beyond the tiger's range: government and commercial organizations celebrate it all over the world, events are held in nature reserves, national parks, zoos and safari parks, libraries and museums launch special "tiger" programs.
"It is important for us to support this project, the Amur tiger is listed in the Red Book. It is the largest and one of the smallest subspecies. And our common task is not only to preserve, but also to increase the population of a unique animal. If in 2013 there were 430 Amur tigers in Russia, today there are already 750 individuals. There are not many wildlife areas left in Russia suitable for tigers to live in, and it is in our power to preserve it," said Konstantin Mayor, owner and CEO of the MAER media holding.
The joint campaign of the Amur Tiger Center and the MAER media holding further expands the geography of the holiday. Congratulations are broadcast on three dozen MAER media facades in 22 cities of Russia. Over 2.2 million people will see it in 4 days. The tiger video accompanying the greeting was captured on a camera trap in the Call of the Tiger National Park in Primorsky Krai.
The Amur Tiger Center and the MAER media holding signed a cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in 2024. The first joint campaign was implemented in September and was timed to coincide with the second "tiger holiday" celebrated in Russia — Tiger Day in Vladivostok.
