According to the EAIS, the comedy "To Grandpa's Village" starring Yuri Stoyanov has become the leader again. In the eighth week at the box office, the film earned 26 million rubles, collecting a total of 650 million. The best start of the weekend is the Russian comedy "Heroes of Jokes". The last weekend of July turned out to be the weakest in terms of attendance in the last two years. According to the EAIS (Unified Federal Automatic Information System for information about movie Screenings in cinemas), only 700 thousand viewers reached the cinemas. Olga Zinyakova, president of the KARO cinema chain, explains the figures by the lack of bright novelties and vacation time.

— There are currently no bright novelties that could stimulate the rental. Plus, the end of July and August are the height of the holidays, moviegoers go to the cinema less often during this period. In the KARO network, the dynamics of attendance correlates with the latest trends — we are seeing a decrease of around 10-15% compared to the first half of 2024, depending on the region, despite the overall positive dynamics at the box office," Olga Zinyakova commented on the results in an interview with Izvestia.

The leadership in the top is once again occupied by Vladislav Bogush's family comedy "To Grandpa's Village". The film overtook the previous leaders — Anton Megerdichev's fantastic melodrama "Plagiarist" and the film inclusions of blogger Milana Khametova "Not alone at home 2". Last weekend, the comedy with Yuri Stoyanov collected about 26 million rubles, bringing the total fees to 650 million.

"Not alone at home 2" took the second place. The film earned 23 million rubles (last weekend it was almost 31 million rubles). The third line is from the "Plagiarist". The previous leader of the box office raised 18 million. The fourth place belongs to the short film "Sclerosis" by Roman Klimenko, which supposedly accompanies the pre-screening service with Hollywood blockbusters. For 801 sessions, the film received 12.5 million and the highest attendance figures of all. An average of 34 people attended each session in the hall, which is three times more than the leaders.

The "new Russian", Vovochka and Chukcha met…

The most successful novelty of the weekend was the comedy "Heroes of Jokes" with Anton Bogdanov. She started from the fifth place of the rating, earning only about 12 million rubles in four days. The picture showed the lowest average occupancy (four people per session) in the top 10.

In the film, the famous characters of the jokes — Chukcha, the "new Russian", Chapaev, Vovochka and mother—in-law - happen to find themselves in modern Moscow, and then, with the help of the main character, a provincial fan of the genre, Petit, they are looking for a way to return to their folklore world.

The creators of the film hoped to play on nostalgia and the original plot, thereby connecting the age and youth audiences. However, judging by the audience ratings, the Andreasyan brothers' project did not have the desired success.

— "Heroes of jokes" is located in the fifth place of the top, but could not loudly declare itself, — Olga Zinyakova noted. — The reason is both the lull in audience interest and the rental holds: the comedy "Plagiarist" and two family releases "Not alone at Home 2" and "To the village of Grandpa" — films with a related target audience that go on an excellent sundress.

In the top of the box office — tales from the crypt

The romcom "The Materialist" follows slightly behind Oscar nominee Celine Son with Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal. The sixth line of the rating and 12 million. In six weeks of rental, the film earned 345 million rubles. However, due to a sharp reduction in the number of cinema screenings (from 9 thousand to 2 thousand), the tape lost its leadership position.

— "The Materialist" has collected a good box office for its genre, but its potential is gradually decreasing, which is reflected in the painting — new items are coming in its place. A remake of the cult action film "Red Sonya" will be released this weekend, and next week — "Ivan Semenov. The first kiss," Olga Zinyakova added.

There are also three horror films in the top ten. In seventh place is the anniversary part of the Saw film series, which received the highest ratings in the franchise from both critics and viewers, and earned about 7 million over the past weekend. The horror "The Nun's Curse" is located on the ninth line of the box office, having collected 5 million. Completing the top 10 is another horror film "Urban Legends. The Nightmare Park", slightly inferior in fees to the previous line.

Other novelties of the weekend did not arouse strong interest among the audience. The comedy thriller "Cock up" with Christina Ricci earned 4 million, the documentary about the monk "Lesha from the Lavra. Burying the Strange" — about 3 million, the boxing drama "Without Rules" with Shia LaBeouf almost reached 2 million, and Eva Victor's directorial and acting debut, marked by European film festivals, barely crossed over 1 million.

Next weekend, the Australian horror "One Whole", a remake of the fantasy action film about a brave warrior and beloved Konon the barbarian "Red Sonya", as well as the Russian family comedy "My Dad the Bear" with Eva Smirnova will compete with the leaders of the Russian rental.
