Trump has expressed disinterest in talks about a settlement in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump has stressed that he is no longer interested in talks about resolving the conflict in Ukraine. He told reporters about this on July 28 during a visit to Scotland, answering the question whether a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin could help relations between the leaders, as well as achieve a truce in the Ukrainian conflict.
"I'm not interested in talking anymore," the BBC quoted him as saying.
The American president added that he did not expect the situation in Ukraine to develop in this way and hoped to reach an agreement. However, he does not rule out that this is still possible.
"It may still happen," Trump admitted.
Earlier in the day, Trump expressed his intention to shorten the period of 50 days during which he was going to achieve a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. Prior to that, on July 27, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Trump was still interested in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, but would like to see action from Russia.
