The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation pointed to the pressure on the staff of the NPP from Ukraine

Currently, the Ukrainian side is subjecting the personnel of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) to psychological pressure. This was announced on July 28 by Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna.

He recalled that at the beginning of the conflict, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, came up with seven principles for ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants in an armed conflict, one of which implies the inadmissibility of psychological pressure on personnel.

"In the case of the NPP, the pressure is enormous. Firstly, Ukrainians are, in fact, waging a campaign of psychological terror on social networks, targeting specific individuals, employees, even waiters working in the canteen, with threats to their lives, safety, and health," he said during a briefing.

Ulyanov also clarified that Ukraine is shelling the satellite city of the Energodar station, where employees and their families live. He stressed that this was a violation, but it was not possible to obtain a corresponding confession from Grossi.

In addition, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation noted that recently the Ukrainians have not attacked the Zaporizhia NPP directly, attacking the vicinity of the station.

Earlier, on July 25, a drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) dropped ammunition into a parking lot near the fire station of the Zaporizhia NPP. On the same day, the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, announced the deaths of two civilians after massive shelling of an energy depot. Two more people were injured.
