Ex-Nissan plant in St. Petersburg went on a three-week vacation
Saint Petersburg Automobile Plant, which previously produced Nissan cars, went on a three-week vacation starting on July 28. This was reported in the company's press service, Interfax reports. Like AVTOVAZ, the vacation will last until August 17th.
In June 2025, a record number of Xcite cars produced by the plant were sold through the Lada dealer network for the entire time the brand has been present on the Russian market: 1,618 cars were sold during the month. The most popular was the mid-size family crossover X-Cross 7: its sales amounted to 1,307 units. The flagship X-Cross 8 sold 311 units.
It is planned that the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg will begin production of a new Lada Iskra model in the fall. The cooperation agreement between AvtoVAZ and Avtozavod Saint Petersburg was signed in the presence of the Governor of the city, Alexander Beglov, on the sidelines of the SPIEF. The general director of the plant, Ivan Mironov, promised to ensure "high quality of every car produced."
On June 3, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, announced that about 8 thousand cars of this brand had been sold in Russia in the year since the start of sales of Xcite cars. During the same time, almost 20 thousand Xcite cars were assembled at the automobile plant in St. Petersburg (formerly Nissan).
