- Degtyarev assessed the progress of the restoration of sports infrastructure in the LPR
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), assessed the progress of the restoration of sports infrastructure during his working trip to the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR).
"I really want the LPR to give new champions, but they need to be educated from the sixth grade. This is our first experience. We accepted a boarding school together with the college. The Russian Ministry of Sports had no such experience. Here we are starting to try it from Lugansk," Degtyarev said during a visit to the Olympic reserve school in the region.
Degtyarev added that the Ministry of Sports has allocated almost 1.5 billion rubles for the repair of sports facilities in the LPR. Targeted assistance is provided to 30 organizations, thanks to which more than 300 athletes of the republic were able to participate in competitions and training camps.
On June 11, the Minister of Sports announced that on the eve of Russia Day, new sports infrastructure facilities were inaugurated in the LPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. He stressed that five new outdoor sports and recreation complexes have been launched in the regions.
