Since the beginning of 2025, Moscow Parking's tow trucks have moved more than 1,000 vehicles that were parked without registration plates. The Metropolitan Department of Transport announced this in its Telegram channel on July 28.
Most often, these were BMW cars — they were moved to parking lots 121 times. Mercedes-Benz (79 units), Geely (68 units), Lada (61 units), and Toyota (44 units) cars were also left without license plates.
Cars left without license plates are moved to secure parking lots by decision of the Anti-Terrorist Commission. There, the police are conducting a check on the involvement of cars in illegal activities.
As Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's deputy mayor for Transport, noted, cars without registration plates can pose a threat — they may be stolen or used for criminal purposes.
Earlier, on July 14, it became known that yellow dividing markings appeared in Moscow for the first time. It was inflicted on Chaginskaya Street in the Southeastern Administrative District. This marking increases safety in areas with heavy traffic.
Prior to that, on June 23, it was reported that in the first five months of 2025, the number of people killed in road accidents in Moscow decreased by 26% compared to the same period last year. So, in 2024, 120 people died in January—May, and 89 people died this year.
