Government, commercial and medical secrets, information protected by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), personal data, bank details, passwords and PIN codes should never be disclosed to artificial intelligence (AI). Igor Bederov, founder of the Internet Search company, NTI SafeNet market expert, told Izvestia about this on July 28.

He also explained that you should not discuss other people's secrets, intimate details, plans for crimes or offenses with the neural network.

In addition, Bederov noted, messages sent by AI do not fall under the protection of attorney-client privilege or other privileges. This data can be obtained upon judicial request and used as evidence.

"There are also risks of hacking the AI company's servers, software errors, and employee abuse. As a result, your personal secrets may become public. This can cause reputational damage, become a subject for extortion and blackmail, as well as other abuses," the expert warned.

The main risks are related to possible data leakage and subsequent reputational losses. Discussing topics with AI such as confessing to cheating on a partner, deeply personal family conflicts, sensitive health issues, friends' secrets, embarrassing situations from the past, or details of a financial situation can have serious consequences. Getting such information into the hands of third parties — be it a partner, employer, parents, or Internet trolls - can cause significant harm, destroy trusting relationships, and negatively affect a career.

At the same time, the expert indicated which topics can be safely discussed with artificial intelligence. These include requesting information on history, science, culture, or the weather, generating ideas for creative projects, and helping you learn complex concepts, languages, mathematics, and programming (without using confidential code). AI can also be useful for proofreading, editing, and paraphrasing texts that do not contain personal or classified information, and for translating neutral materials.

Treat a conversation with any public AI like a public speech on the internet. Do not write in a chat with an AI that you would not openly write on your social network page or say to an unfamiliar crowd of people. Remember that the confidentiality of AI is not guaranteed either legally or technically.

On July 26, Polina Petrova, HR Director at Huntflow HR-tech company, told Izvestia that using AI to compile a resume could be harmful. According to her, thanks to AI, a clear and concise description is obtained. But at the same time, important details disappear from the resume — the context, the specifics of the tasks, the specific difficulties that the candidate faced.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
