- A criminal case has been opened into the fact of a hacker attack on the Aeroflot system.
A criminal case has been opened into a hacker attack on the Aeroflot information system. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation announced this on July 28.
As a result of the incident at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, more than 80 flights were delayed and about 60 canceled.
"The reason was a failure in the Aeroflot information system as a result of a hacker attack. A mobile reception continues to operate at the airport, where passengers can apply for compliance with their rights," the agency's official website says.
A criminal case was opened into the hacker attack under Part 4 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful access to computer information").
The cancellation of 42 flights from Moscow by Aeroflot due to information system failures became known earlier that day. It was clarified that cancelled flights are subject to refund or reissue for dates within 10 days. At the same time, ticket offices temporarily did not refund or reissue tickets at Sheremetyevo Airport.
