The AFD called the EU-US deal a slap in the face to European consumers and companies
The trade deal between the European Union (EU) and the United States is a slap in the face to European consumers and companies. This was announced on July 28 by Alice Weidel, co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
"15% tariffs, the obligation to purchase weapons and energy from the United States is not an agreement, but a slap in the face to European consumers and manufacturers," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The day before, US President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with the European Union. According to Bloomberg, the agreement will allow the EU to avoid the 30 percent tariffs that Washington could impose. It is specified that, in turn, the EU agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of American energy resources and invest another $600 billion in the United States economy.
