Spartak Sychev, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), who left an autograph on the wall of the defeated Reichstag in 1945, died in Tver. This was announced on July 28 by the press service of the government of the Tver region in its Telegram channel.

"He courageously fought the enemy in the greatest battles on the Kursk Bulge and near Rzhev, liberated Kiev. In 1945, he personally witnessed the victory over the enemy by leaving his autograph on the wall of the defeated Reichstag in Berlin. <...> His life became a part of the heroic history of our Fatherland," said Governor Igor Rudenya.

He also pointed out the veteran's contribution to the patriotic education of young people, his concern for the preservation of historical truth, and stressed that the memory of Sychev will forever remain in the hearts of the region's residents.

After the war, Spartak Sychev graduated from the Military Law Academy in Moscow, served in the military prosecutor's office, taught at Kalinin University and worked for 30 years at the Tver Car Building Plant. For his military and labor services, the veteran was awarded many awards, including the Order of Honor, "For Services to the Fatherland" IV degree, "Patriotic War" I and II degrees, the Red Star, as well as medals "For Military Merit", "For the Capture of Berlin" and "For Victory over Germany".
