In St. Petersburg, a 72-year-old pensioner believed fraudsters who identified themselves as employees of the "military prosecutor's office" and gave them more than 2.3 million rubles. This was reported on July 28 by a source of Izvestia.

According to him, on July 25, unknown persons called the woman on behalf of the military prosecutor's office and stated that Ukrainian terrorists were allegedly financed from her bank accounts.

The source clarified that the attackers convinced a resident of St. Petersburg to cash out the money and transfer it to a courier for "declaration." A few hours later, the pensioner met with a stranger and handed him 1 million rubles and $ 5 thousand. The next day, the woman applied for a loan at the direction of the scammers and transferred the funds to a "secure account."

The amount of damage amounted to more than 2.3 million rubles, and a criminal case has been opened into the incident.

Earlier, on July 26, the Moscow prosecutor's office reported that the pensioner had given more than 63.7 million rubles to telephone fraudsters. It was clarified that she was contacted on behalf of the customer service and warned about the alleged replacement of the intercom in the house. Subsequently, she received a call from an employee of Roskomnadzor, who forced the woman to transfer all her savings.
