Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the Baptism of Rus and the name Day, thanking the Russian leader for his continued attention to the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). The text of the greeting was published on the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church on July 28.

"Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the Day of the Baptism of Rus, as well as on your namesake," the text says.

The Patriarch expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for his firm position in protecting traditional values. He recalled that more than a thousand years ago, Holy Prince Vladimir defined for centuries the path of spiritual and cultural development of the Slavic peoples, who were united by the Christian faith.

"I am convinced that through joint efforts, with God's help, we will be able to overcome all the challenges of the time and raise the younger generation in love for the motherland, which means ensuring Russia's true sovereignty and prosperity for years to come," said the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

On April 20, Putin, congratulating all Orthodox Christians on Easter, noted that the Russian Orthodox Church and other branches of Christian denominations, among other things, help educate young people and strengthen family values. The efforts of religious organizations aimed at helping the defenders of the Fatherland and their loved ones deserve the most sincere recognition, the President noted.
