- Medvedev called Trump's deal with the EU humiliating for Europe and beneficial to the United States
The trade deal between the American leader Donald Trump and the European Union (EU) is beneficial exclusively to the United States and completely humiliates the Europeans. This was announced on Monday, July 28, by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia.
He stressed that, despite the contradictory statements, Trump consistently pushes through the economic interests of his country. According to Medvedev, the agreement reached by the United States with the EU deprives Europe of protection in its own market, creates serious financial costs for it and prohibits the purchase of Russian energy resources.
"You can just sympathize with ordinary Europeans. It's time for them to take Brussels by storm," the politician added in his Telegram channel.
The United States and the European Union (EU) agreed on a trade deal on July 27. The agreement will allow the EU to avoid 30% duties that could be imposed by Washington. However, Trump said he did not intend to reduce the level of duties for Brussels from 15%. It was noted that the European Union agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of American energy resources and invest another $600 billion in the United States economy.
In turn, the head of the parliamentary faction of the National Unification Party, Marine Le Pen, said on July 27 that the trade deal between the European Union and the United States should be considered a fiasco from the point of view of politics, economics and morality. She noted that the EU countries have received worse terms of trade agreements than the UK, and this is a political fiasco.
