More than 40% of European residents have not heard of such politicians as NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the International European Movement (EMI). The results of the study were published on the movement's website on July 28.

It is noted that 48% of Europeans are well aware of the activities of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, and another 23% have at least heard of her. At the same time, many leading politicians remain little known: 41% of respondents have never heard of Rutte, 45% have never heard of European Parliament President Robert Metsola, and 48% have never heard of Callas.

According to the survey results, only 21% of respondents said they were "quite familiar" with Rutte's activities, 18% — Metsola and 14% — Callas. The least well—known among major EU political figures is the European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius, 60% of respondents have never heard of him.

The study was conducted among 3.5 thousand citizens of seven EU countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

On July 17, the Politico newspaper, citing survey data, reported that UK residents began to trust the actions of the US authorities less. It was noted that only 38% of Britons are confident that the United States will act responsibly in the world, which is 15 percentage points less than in 2024.
