Cambodia's Defense Ministry condemns Thailand for cluster munition attacks

The Cambodian Ministry of National Defense said that as a result of Thai strikes on seven sites, cluster munitions with chemical weapons were used, which violates international law. This was reported by the Khmer Times newspaper on July 28.

"A representative of the Ministry of National Defense confirmed that during the fighting on July 25, 2025, the Thai army attacked seven targets using heavy weapons and cluster munitions, which are prohibited by international law," the publication said.

According to the newspaper, a spokesman for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense regarded this act as a war crime.

On July 24, an armed clash took place on the disputed border between Thailand and Cambodia. The military of both sides accused each other of firing the first shots.

On July 25, it was reported that the escalation of the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia could lead to the outbreak of war. New clashes between the sides were also reported. As a result of the mutual attacks, 15 people were killed.

On July 27, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced an agreement to an immediate truce with Thailand.
