A man born in 1993 who grew more than 35 kg of cannabis was detained in the Smolensk region. This was announced on July 28 by the Russian Interior Ministry in its Telegram channel.

"He grew cannabis outdoors and in a greenhouse. <...> In total, law enforcement officers seized 4 kg of marijuana and 85 cannabis bushes with a total weight of over 30.5 kg from illicit trafficking," the report said.

A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 3 of Article 30 ("Attempted crime"), Part 4 of Article 228.1 ("Illegal sale or transfer of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, or their parts containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, on a large scale"), Part 2 of Article 228 ("Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, or their parts containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances on a large scale") and Part 1 of Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal cultivation on a large scale of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances").

Earlier, on July 14, in Moscow, police officers stopped an attempt to sell more than 1 kg of narcotic substances. According to the investigation, the 36-year-old man is suspected of trafficking marijuana and hashish. It is noted that during a search of the defendant's house, several bundles with a plant substance similar to cannabis were found, as well as scales.
