A man who tried to enter the building of the US Treasury Department in Washington was arrested by the country's Secret Service. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on Sunday, July 27.

The break-in attempt occurred at 14:30 local time (21:30 Moscow time). Traffic in the area was immediately blocked as the man left a suspicious bag on the sidewalk nearby. A subsequent inspection by the bomb squad showed that the bag was safe.

"According to the statement, the suspect was charged with trespassing in connection with an outstanding warrant, and he was taken to a local hospital for a medical examination," the publication said.

Earlier, on January 8, the US Capitol police detained a man who tried to bring a machete into the Capitol Visitors Center (CVC). It is specified that during a security check at the northern doors of CVC, employees on an X-ray machine found a machete and three knives in the man's bag.
