North Korea is not interested in reconciliation with South Korea. This was reported on July 28 by the KCNA news agency, citing a statement by Kim Yo Jong, Deputy director of the Department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

"The Republic of Korea (ROK) can in no way be a partner in reconciliation and assistance, regardless of its sign and mask <...> We are not interested in any political measures or proposals from Seoul. We have nothing to discuss at the negotiating table," Kim said.

The message was a response to the measures taken by the current President of South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, to try to start reconciliation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

"As for the cessation of propaganda broadcasting aimed at psychological warfare against the DPRK, the rulers of the Republic of Korea portrayed it as the first signal of restoring trust between the South and the North, but all this is a result that the Republic of Korea itself entailed. <...> In other words, it does not deserve evaluation," KCNA quoted.

According to the agency, the South Korean president's promise to adhere to the policy of the South Korean-American security alliance shows similarities with his predecessor from his predecessor Yoon Seok-yeol.

"If the Republic of Korea, which in the past unilaterally declared our state as the main enemy and created an extreme confrontational atmosphere, expects that with some sentimental words it is possible to reverse all the results caused by the Republic of Korea itself, then this will be a big mistake," Kim stressed.

Earlier, on July 13, the DPRK declared its readiness to respond to any threats from the United States and Japan. It was noted that the DPRK, through real and military retaliatory actions, would more clearly show its unchanged position <...> and continue to take responsible measures to protect the sovereignty and security interests of the state.
