Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio said that the trade tariffs adopted during the EU-US trade deal are high. This was announced on July 27 by the Yle television and radio company.

Finnish Foreign Trade Minister Tavio believes that the customs agreement between the EU and the United States will calm the situation, but the tariff level is too high.

"The tariff agreement between the European Union and the United States will calm the situation, but the tariff level is too high," the portal quoted Tavio as saying.

He expressed hope for the short-term validity of the trade agreements. He also supported the initiative of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen to purchase American energy resources as an analogue to Russian ones.

Earlier in the day, the United States and the European Union (EU) agreed on a trade deal. The agreement will allow the EU to avoid 30% duties that could be imposed by Washington. However, US President Donald Trump has stated that he does not intend to reduce the level of duties for Brussels from 15%.

On the same day, von der Leyen announced that it was necessary to replace Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil with an American equivalent in order to reduce duties. She stressed that the purchase of energy products from the United States will contribute to the energy security of Europe.
