Residents of the collapsed house in Saratov told about the possible demolition of part of the building

A part of a multi-storey building in Saratov that was damaged by a gas explosion may be demolished. This was told to Izvestia by local residents on Sunday, July 27.

Since the three sections of the building are separated by expansion joints, the structure consists of almost three independent parts. This allows you to demolish the damaged section without damaging the other two. The fifth entrance was damaged during the explosion, and the fourth was combined with it into one section.

"The fourth and fifth entrances may have to be demolished because there is no thermal seam," said a local resident.

Residents of the remaining entrances have already been allowed to return to their apartments.

As a result of the tragedy, three people died.

The explosion in a multi-storey building in Saratov occurred on July 25. As a result of the incident, seven people were killed, including a child. A regional state of emergency was declared in the Saratov Region, and July 26 was called a day of mourning in the region.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident regarding the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements.
