The Ministry of Agriculture is asked to provide assistance to farmers in the south of Russia due to the drought. Such a letter addressed to the Minister Oksana Lut was prepared by Sergey Lisovsky, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Competition Protection.

"In a number of regions of Russia, the issue of drought and measures is now very acute. These are, first of all, the Rostov Region, the Krasnodar Territory and the Crimea. In order to stabilize the situation of agricultural producers and prevent bankruptcy and withdrawal from agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture urgently needs to take support measures. Because now many previously successful farms are selling their businesses," the deputy explained to Izvestia.

In the document, he says that he receives many appeals from agricultural producers due to large crop losses of grain, sunflower and corn. In this regard, he asks, among other things, to inform him what support measures the Ministry of Agriculture plans to provide to farmers and how they will arrange compensation for losses.
