The brother of the fencer Sophia the Great came to support her at the World Cup in Tbilisi

Trofim, the brother of Russian fencer Sofia the Great, came to Tbilisi, where the World Fencing Championships are taking place, to support his sister. This was reported by Izvestia on July 27.

"I liked everything, everything was fine, everything went at the highest level, as usual, as everything went before. <...> You all saw the results for yourself. I came to cheer for my sister," said Trofim.

He noted that Sophia the Great, like many Russian athletes, had not had international competitions for a long time, and therefore had similar results.

The national team will play in the most representative line-up since 2019.

Earlier, on July 26, Russian sabre player Sofia Velikaya lost to Ukrainian Yulia Bakastova in the 1/32 finals of the World Fencing Championships in Tbilisi. The match ended with a score of 15:14 in favor of the Ukrainian athlete.

On July 27, a rally of the radical opposition was held in Tbilisi near the hotel where the Russian athletes who arrived at the World Fencing Championships were staying.
