The United States and the European Union have agreed on a trade deal, US President Donald Trump said after meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 27.

According to the newspaper, the agreement will allow the EU to avoid 30% of duties that could be imposed by Washington. However, Trump said he did not intend to reduce the level of duties for Brussels from 15%.

It is noted that the European Union has agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of American energy resources and invest another $600 billion in the United States economy.

"The US and the EU have agreed a deal that leaves the bloc with 15% tariffs on most of its exports, including cars," Bloomberg writes.

According to Trump, the European Union will open markets for American exports with zero tariffs. The American leader added that this agreement "satisfies both sides."

On July 25, it was reported that Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer could reach an "improved" trade deal between the countries during negotiations. The United States also intended to reach a similar agreement with the EU. According to the American leader, European countries are "very interested" in the deal.

On July 12, the American leader announced US plans to impose 30% duties on goods from the European Union from August 1, 2025. He added that duties will not be imposed if the EU or its companies decide to manufacture products in the United States.
