The Russian nuclear-powered submarine Knyaz Pozharsky looks like a "24-thousand-ton monster." This was reported by the French newspaper Le Parisien on July 27.

After the ceremonial launching of the submarine, Le Parisien published an article highlighting the impressive characteristics of the submarine: length 170 m, maximum speed 46 km/ h.

"This 24-thousand-ton monster with a length of 170 m, capable of reaching a maximum speed of 46 km / h, is designed to embody not only the future, but also the present of Russian nuclear deterrence in the Arctic," the publication says.

As noted in the article, it is not surprising that it was named after Prince Pozharsky, a historical war hero who liberated Moscow from the Polish-Lithuanian invaders in 1612.

"This fourth-generation missile launcher, which is both defensive and offensive, belongs to the Borei-A class, that is, it is capable of carrying intercontinental ballistic missiles. More precisely, it is equipped with a nuclear reactor on board, 96 warheads, as well as 16 Bulava missiles," the newspaper stressed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, July 24, took part in the flag-raising ceremony on the nuclear submarine Prince Pozharsky in Severodvinsk. The President specified that the Prince Pozharsky is equipped with effective electronic equipment and shock weapons, including Bulava ballistic missiles.
