Fraudsters steal money under the pretext of buying access to online broadcasts of football matches. This was reported on July 27 by the Russian Interior Ministry.

As noted by TASS with reference to the agency, the attackers use messengers to contact people who belong to groups of football fans. At the same time, the scammers present themselves as managers of video platforms.

As part of the scheme, scammers promise users access to match broadcasts and ask them to make an advance payment for the alleged services provided. After the transfer of funds, communication with the "managers" is terminated.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises that when purchasing digital services, check the reputation of match broadcast sites. In addition, prepayment to individual accounts should be avoided, the agency said.

Earlier, on July 26, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia urged not to resort to displaying the screen on phones when communicating in messengers. According to the agency, when using this function during contact with intruders, there is a risk of identity theft.
