Welt reported on Qatar's threats to the EU to stop natural gas supplies
Qatar has threatened the European Union (EU) to stop the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) due to disagreement with the requirements of the European directive on the verification of all supply chains of companies for compliance with sustainable development goals. This was reported on July 26 by the Welt newspaper with reference to a letter from Qatar's Minister of State for Energy Saad al-Kaabi to the Belgian government.
"Qatar will no longer supply gas to Europe if the European Commission refuses to remove basic climate protection requirements from its supply chain directive. A written threat of an embargo and a list of specific proposed amendments to the EU directive will be presented to the world on Sunday [July 27]," the publication says.
