The Interior Ministry urged not to use the screen demonstration function on phones
It can be dangerous to use the screen demonstration feature on phones when communicating in messengers. This was announced on July 26 by the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"This feature can be very convenient, but if you are communicating with an attacker (whoever he is), your data is already in his pocket," the department's Telegram channel says.
So, a citizen can be contacted using the "fake boss" scheme and required to register on some resource. As a rule, he is most often legitimate and well-known.
In order to "speed up the registration process," the scammers ask to turn on a screen demonstration so they can see personal data and apply for access to their account on the Gosuslugi portal. Due to the demonstration of the screen, the attackers will see the account confirmation code, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified.
Earlier, on July 21, Telegram founder Pavel Durov warned about fraud schemes in which paid gifts, names and money are extorted from the messenger under threat of personal data disclosure. According to him, now gifts can be sold for more than $ 100 thousand.
