Twelve-year-old American Jacen Carr died after swimming in Lake Murray in South Carolina, where he became infected with an amoeba of the species Negleria Fowler. This was reported by the Mirror newspaper on July 26.

"Jacen Carr, 12 years old, unfortunately passed away after he was struck down by a deadly bacterial infection while visiting Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina," the publication says.

It is specified that on July 7, the boy was diagnosed with an amoeba infection that affects the human brain. It causes an infection of the brain, which is usually fatal.

According to the newspaper, the student was unaware of the potential danger due to the lack of a warning about the presence of bacteria in the lake. This reservoir is one of the largest artificial reservoirs in the world, it is visited by tens of thousands of people every year.
