Patrushev warned the West against attacking the Kaliningrad region

Any military encroachment on the Kaliningrad region will be met with an immediate and crushing response using all the forces and means available to Russia, provided for by the military doctrine and the fundamentals of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear deterrence. This was announced on July 26 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of Russia, Chairman of the Maritime Board.

"We have known the Westerners' plans for Kaliningrad for a long time. I can comment on them in the only way possible. The Kaliningrad Region is an integral part of Russia, and any military encroachment on it will be met with an immediate and crushing response using all the forces and means at our disposal, provided for by military doctrine and the fundamentals of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence. Russia has all the necessary military tools to guarantee the security of the Kaliningrad region," Patrushev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
