The Palestinian Hamas movement intends to sign a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, but first it will delay time to create favorable terms for Palestine. This was reported on July 25 by The Jerusalem Post (JP) newspaper with reference to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

"The military claims that the reason for the current famine in Gaza is not that food security is worse now than at any other point in the war, but that Hamas is raising this issue now, during the ceasefire negotiations," the newspaper noted.

According to the newspaper, there is no hunger in the Gaza Strip, but there is a problem of food insecurity. Despite this, Israel, according to JP, is trying to convince the UN to send 900 trucks with humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Israel and the United States are searching for alternative ways to free hostages from Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that Hamas is an obstacle to concluding an agreement on the release of hostages.

On the eve of US President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, said that the United States had withdrawn the negotiating team from Doha after a response from Hamas, which "does not indicate a desire" to achieve a truce in the Gaza Strip. The United States also announced its intention to consider alternative ways to return the hostages from Gaza in connection with the response of the negotiating team.
