The doctor told about serious illnesses related to causeless bruises.
The appearance of bruises on the body for no apparent reason may be a sign of hemorrhagic syndrome — an increased tendency to bleeding. This symptom can indicate various disorders in the body, including blood diseases and even cancer. Lydia Buzyan, a hemostasis therapist at the Vitro Clinic Reproduction Center and author of the book "The Path to Motherhood", told Izvestia about this on July 25.
She explained that hemorrhagic syndrome manifests itself in different ways depending on the cause. With a decrease in the number or activity of platelets, spot hemorrhages on the skin (petechiae) and bleeding of the mucous membranes are characteristic. If the problem is related to a violation of blood clotting factors, deep hematomas and hemorrhages in the joints occur.
Among the possible causes of the syndrome, the expert names diseases of the hemostatic system (hemophilia, Willebrand's disease), vascular fragility, taking certain medications (including painkillers), liver pathologies and blood diseases such as leukemia. With leukemia, there is a pathological increase in white blood cells, which suppresses platelet production and leads to bleeding.
"Leukemia can be suspected when bleeding is combined with other symptoms: fever, loss of appetite, weakness, muscle pain, enlarged lymph nodes, liver and spleen," the doctor said.
If there are unreasonable bruises and increased bleeding, she recommends that you first do a general blood test and a coagulogram, and then consult a therapist for further diagnosis.
Earlier, on February 13, oncologist at the Sberbank Health medical company, Suna Isakova, said that the primary measures for cancer prevention include quitting smoking, alcohol, going to the solarium, as well as weight control, a balanced diet, the use of sunscreen and regular physical activity.
