Impetigo is caused mainly by staphylococci and streptococci, which can live on the skin, especially in the area of stubble. However, a woman can also suffer from infection — the virus is transmitted through a kiss. However, such an infection rarely happens. On July 25, Elizaveta Shukhman, a dermatologist and cosmetologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg clinic), told Izvestia about this.

So, if a person with a beard has active infections or skin lesions, the risk of infection increases. Transmission of infection requires physical contact, as well as favorable conditions, such as microtrauma on the partner's skin.

"Bacteria can linger in the bristles, as the hair creates a microenvironment that retains moisture and microorganisms. In close contact, they can get on another person's skin, especially if there are open wounds or injuries," the doctor explained.

Diseases may not manifest themselves for years and destroy the body at the same time.

To reduce the risk of infection transmission, people with beards are advised to wash them regularly using antibacterial shampoos, apply oils or balms to prevent dryness and cracks in the skin, and avoid touching their faces and close contact in the presence of inflammation.

In addition, impetigo infection can be caused by touching another person's damaged skin, using shared towels, razors or other personal hygiene items, contact with contaminated surfaces, as well as some pets with skin infections.

The specialist emphasizes the importance of personal hygiene for the prevention of infections, regardless of the presence of a beard. If signs of skin diseases appear, you should consult a doctor in a timely manner.
