In motor sports, all international federations and competition organizers try not to belittle the role of humans in favor of new technologies. This was stated by Vladimir Chagin, head of the Silk Road international rally raid, in an interview with Izvestia on July 25.

According to Chagin, innovations such as unmanned vehicles or electric vehicles should not disrupt the competitive balance in the rally.

"It is possible to launch a self-driving car without a driver, and introduce modern navigation. And then what about the person? Therefore, on the contrary, even restrictions are being introduced so that there is more participation of human thought, human creation," the functionary said.

The main principle of motorsport, as noted by Chagin, is the equal role of man and car — 50-50.

"This balance must still be maintained. Then there will be a struggle between man and technology, because rally raids are competitions for human endurance and the reliability of technology, a car or a motorcycle. Therefore, we are following this strategy," Chagin summed up.

On July 16, it was reported that the Silk Road had reached Mongolia. The route of the special stage with a length of more than 200 km consisted of a tangle of turns, dry riverbeds and rolling steppe between the hills. The route, which runs along rocky trails, has become one of the most scenic along the entire route of the rally marathon.
