A huge BGSe crystal was made in China, which allows you to create super-powerful laser weapons. This was reported on July 25 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) agency, citing sources.

"Chinese researchers have produced the world's largest barium gallium selenide (BGSe) crystal, which is a breakthrough that could pave the way for the creation of a super-powerful laser weapon capable of hitting satellites from Earth," the agency noted.

As reported by SCMP, the crystal has a diameter of 60 mm. It is capable of withstanding laser power of up to 550 megawatts per square meter. cm and effectively converts short-wave infrared radiation into rays of the middle and far infrared range, capable of penetrating atmospheric windows for long-range transmission.

Earlier, on January 19, 2024, the British Ministry of Defense conducted tests of the DragonFire laser cannon against air targets at the Hebridean training ground in Scotland.
