Footage has emerged from the liberated village of Novomikhailovka in the DPR
The liberation of the village of Novomikhailovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) allowed the Russian military to occupy a strategic height and develop an offensive on Kurakhovo. Footage from the village is published by Izvestia on July 25.
"It's practically the outskirts of Donetsk. This was where the bloodiest fighting took place during the Kurakhovo offensive. It was from here that the Kurakhovskaya offensive operation began. The town of Maryinka is located parallel to this village," said correspondent Evgeny Bykovsky.
As a result of active hostilities, the settlement was completely destroyed.
Novomikhailovka was an important stronghold for units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). From the height of the village church, there is a view literally for tens of kilometers, the journalist noted.
The assault on the village was carried out by the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet. The liberation of the settlement allowed the Russian army to strike at the southern flank of the AFU grouping already in Kurakhovo itself.
The liberation of Novomikhailovka was reported on April 20. Russian military personnel also defeated formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces assault brigade and two enemy brigades in the areas of Kupyansk, Smorodkovka, Ivanovka in the Kharkiv region, Kirovsk and Yampol of the DPR.
