Netanyahu condemns Macron's decision to recognize the State of Palestine
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned French President Emmanuel Macron for his decision to recognize the State of Palestine, calling it an encouragement of terror. He wrote about this on July 24 in the social network X.
"We strongly condemn President Macron's decision to recognize a Palestinian state next to Tel Aviv after the October 7 tragedy. Such a move encourages terror and threatens the creation of another Iranian puppet state, just as happened with Gaza," the statement said.
Netanyahu noted that recognizing Palestine as an independent and sovereign state could lead to the destruction of Israel.
Earlier in the day, Macron announced his intention to recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in 2026. He noted that this will contribute to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, as well as rescue and comprehensive assistance to local residents.
Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh expressed gratitude to Macron for recognizing the state. He stressed that this step by France shows the country's commitment to international law.
