On July 24, US President Donald Trump and the chairman of the Federal Reserve System (FRS) argued about the cost of repairing the building where the agency is located.

During the dialogue, the American leader noted that work costs had increased to $3.1 billion.

In turn, the head of the department said that the indicated price should not include the third building, which was built five years ago. Powell also noted that no new reconstruction costs are expected.

"So we'll see what happens," Trump concluded.

Earlier, on July 4, Trump signed the White House's "big and wonderful" tax and spending cuts bill. It was clarified that the program is aimed at reducing taxes and increasing spending on national security.

On July 21, the United States Congressional Budget Office announced that the signed bill would increase the country's budget deficit by $3.4 trillion through 2034. In addition, the project will allow the US government to save $1 trillion by reducing healthcare costs.
