Second Lieutenant Sergey Vashcheikin led his unit in the task of capturing an enemy stronghold and achieved the successful completion of the operation. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Russia in the area of a special military operation on Friday, July 25.

Vashcheikin prepared a route for moving his assault unit to the site as soon as possible. He used an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to scout the area. As a result, his subordinates were able to get close to the stronghold, remaining unnoticed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The Defense Ministry noted that after receiving the order to attack, Vashcheikin's assault group suddenly attacked the superior enemy forces from two flanks, after which it captured opornik.

During the retention of occupied positions and waiting for the approach of the reinforcement group, the junior lieutenant personally adjusted the combat operation of the FPV drones. This made it possible to destroy the transport with reinforcements and the manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were trying to recapture the lost positions.

The defense ministry also pointed to the courage of Corporal Oleg Khomyakov, who, noticing an approaching drone, hid from the blow in a dugout, after which he disguised himself and opened fire on the enemy.

As a result of Vashcheikin's courageous actions, the stronghold was taken, which contributed to the further advance of the Russian units. From the occupied positions, the Russian Armed Forces subsequently adjusted artillery fire according to the enemy's location.

On July 24, the Ministry of Defense said that Private Rafael Petrishchev was at an observation post and was carrying out the task of covering Russian units from AFU attacks from the air when he noticed an approaching drone. The fighter immediately took aim with small arms and shot down the enemy drone, despite the risk of being under artillery fire.

Prior to that, on July 23, the ministry noted that Guard Private Sergei Shentsev, as part of an artillery battery, provided fire support to Russian units when the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to attack under the cover of their artillery and armored vehicles. The soldier's crew managed to eliminate three armored vehicles and about ten enemy personnel.
