Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has said Brazil is ready to negotiate with the United States on imposing 50% trade duties on Brazilian goods. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 24.

"Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has stated <...> that his country is ready for negotiations with the United States," the agency said in a statement.

According to the agency, the Brazilian president noticed that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, does not show a desire to start negotiations.

Earlier, on July 9, Trump imposed trade duties of 50% on goods from Brazil. The law will be put into effect on August 1. Lula da Silva criticized this statement, noting the unfairness of Trump's statements.
