There will be no next round of Russian-Ukrainian talks without a signal from the United States. Andrei Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, expressed this opinion on Thursday, July 24.

According to the senator, the meeting should take place after progress on the issues that Russia is talking about.

Klimov believes that without another signal from Washington, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not do anything, because for him the entire negotiation process, apart from the PR component, is not interesting.

"And the PR component doesn't appear for him in any way, because, for obvious reasons. our president [Vladimir Putin] is not going to meet just to meet," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

He noted that Russia's proposal to create three working groups on humanitarian, military and political issues is very important, because in the current situation it is impossible to provide breakthrough solutions in all areas.

The senator stressed that other issues will be difficult to resolve until a decision on a cease-fire is made.

"What we are proposing is quite real things, and it seems to me that after the discussion that has just taken place, it would be possible to really try to move forward in these areas. If there is progress, then it makes sense to meet and sum up some results," Klimov concluded.
