Xi Jinping expressed condolences to Putin over plane crash in Amur region

President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping has expressed condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the plane crash in the Amur Region that killed passengers and crew. This was reported on July 24 by China Central Television (CCTV).

"On behalf of the Government and people of China, I express my deep condolences for the victims and my sincere sympathy to the families of the victims," the Chinese leader's telegram reads.

Xi Jinping noted that he was shocked by the news of the crash of the AN-24 passenger plane. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also sent condolences to his Russian counterpart.

"Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his sincere condolences to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in connection with the crash of a passenger plane in the Amur region," the press service said on the website of the head of state.

The AN-24 passenger plane crashed 15 km from Tynda in the Amur region on the morning of July 24. The aircraft was en route Khabarovsk — Blagoveshchensk — Tynda and stopped communicating. Later, his burning fuselage was found on the ground.

A criminal case has been opened into the loss of communication with the aircraft. Possible versions of the crash may be a technical malfunction and a human factor. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has confirmed that passengers and crew members on board the AN-24 aircraft that crashed in the Amur region were killed.
