Every fourth working Russian started working part-time from the office
In Russia, part-time work is becoming a part of everyday life. According to a Level Group study reviewed by Izvestia on July 25, 20% of Russians are looking for a way to earn extra money. Moreover, 5% have two or more such sources of income.
As specified in the study, 23% of Russians use their office for part—time work: meeting rooms in the evening turn into an office for tutoring, a cafe at work into mini-coworking spaces for consultations, and a desk chair at the monitor into an online classroom.
"The survey showed that about a quarter of Russians combine basic and additional employment in one office space. This is not surprising, because modern business centers allow you to work comfortably both in a team and alone. If an employee wants to earn more, and the employer does not prevent this, then working in a convenient and familiar location not only increases efficiency, but also helps to clearly separate work and rest," said Alexandra Zakharova, Director of commercial real estate at Level Group.
According to the survey, employers often treat this format calmly: 57% know that employees earn extra money. 30% even approve: the main thing is that the main job does not suffer. A ban on second employment is a rarity, with only 10% of respondents.
Time remains one of the key resources for those who combine their main job with part-time jobs. 20% of the participants spend no more than five hours a week on additional earnings. Half of the respondents spend 6-10 hours on this, a quarter — up to 20 hours. There are also real workaholics: 4% devote more than 20 hours a week to part-time work, that is, about three hours a day.
Vladimir Koritsky, CEO of the service for secure transactions with freelancers at Solar Staff, told Izvestia on May 21 about a new trend — polyworking: when a person simultaneously conducts several projects, he works for a number of companies in different roles. According to the expert, this allows people to increase their income, constantly develop skills in various fields, be creative and avoid routine.
