The AN-24 passenger plane that crashed in the Amur region was technically sound, and no serious accidents occurred. Sergey Salamanov, CEO of Angara Airlines, told Izvestia about this on July 24.
"[The pilot] is experienced, 61 years old. About 11,000 flight hours. <...> The 1976 aircraft. You understand that the plane is already 49 years old. During such a period, nothing supernatural happened. It has reached 49 years of operation," he said.
According to Salamanov, the flight was delayed due to bad weather, but in the end, the aircraft commander decided to fly. The head of Angara added that while there is no exact information about the disaster, rescuers have not yet reached the site.
He also confirmed that the airline was conducting investigative actions.
"This is their (law enforcement agencies') job," Salamanov commented.
On that day, it became known that the crashed plane had been involved in four aviation incidents since 2018. So, in December 2018, when taxiing at Bodaibo airport in the Irkutsk region, the liner touched the lighting mast with the left wing console. Then none of the passengers were injured. Izvestia also reported that the aviation authorities had maintenance claims against Angara Airlines, which owns the crashed plane.
The AN-24 passenger plane crashed on the same day 15 km from Tynda in the Amur region. The aircraft was en route Khabarovsk — Blagoveshchensk — Tynda and stopped communicating. Later, rescuers reached the crash site. A regional emergency regime was introduced in the Amur Region and three days of mourning were declared.
According to preliminary data, all those on board the passenger plane were killed. A criminal case has been opened into the loss of communication with the crashed plane. A technical malfunction and a human factor are considered as a version of the incident.
