Ex-director of Patriot Park Akhmedov pleaded guilty to fraud
Vyacheslav Akhmedov, the former director of Patriot Park, pleaded guilty and testified in a criminal case on large-scale fraud and forgery. This was announced on July 24 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the Odintsovo City Court.
Akhmedov clarified that he had voluntarily entered into a pre-trial agreement. He fully admitted his guilt and repented of what he had done.
According to the ex-head of the park, he had no personal gain while working at Patriot. Akhmedov named Pavel Popov, ex-deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry, as the only beneficiary.
"I am a gentle and executive person. Popov made it clear to me that if I quit, I would never get a job again. I had no doubts not to believe the army general," said the former director of Patriot.
In addition, he clarified that he had arranged for "dead souls" to enter the park, who were registered and did not work at Popov's facility.
According to the indictment, from May 2022 to April 2024, Akhmedov, at Popov's request, performed economic functions in the park. It is noted that he fraudulently attracted contractors to build two-storey and guest houses, baths, finishing buildings and installing green spaces on the site in the Popov's son's farm.
According to the forged documents, the plot of the son of the ex-Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation was registered as part of the park. It is specified that Popov inspected the buildings of the guest houses in the park, became interested in the construction of such buildings on his son's site, and subsequently he had an intention to steal funds from the Ministry of Defense and the Patriot Park.
Earlier, on July 17, the court sentenced another person involved in the case, the former deputy head of the Main Directorate of Innovative Development of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Vladimir Shesterov, to six years in a penal colony. He was also fined 500 thousand rubles.
