The dog handler named the reasons for the dog's aggressive behavior
In most cases, the dog bites the owner for specific reasons that are important to understand and eliminate. Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told Izvestia on July 25 how to act correctly if a dog bites a person.
"The right decision is to figure out what prompted the pet to take such an extreme measure. Perhaps it was the man himself who was to blame. By itself, the dog is not interested in biting its owner, and if this happens, it will become a huge stress for itself. Scolding won't help — you need to understand the reasons and adjust your behavior, sometimes your own," Golubev said.
According to him, there are several situations where a pet can bite. So, during the game, puppies often grab their hands with their teeth from overexcitation. In this case, you should interrupt the game and let the pet calm down without using punishments.
Fear is the most common cause of bites. If a dog tucks his tail between his legs, growls or slouches, this is a signal to stop actions that frighten him. Problems with socialization require correction together with a dog handler. The disease can also cause aggression. If a dog suddenly starts biting for no apparent reason, it is worth checking its health with a veterinarian.
However, violating a pet's personal boundaries is a common problem. Children and guests should understand that you cannot tease a dog or force attention on it against its will.
In rare cases, a bite may be associated with rabies. If the dog has not been vaccinated and has been in contact with suspicious animals, immediately wash the wound with soap and water after the bite, treat it with an antiseptic and urgently consult a doctor for vaccination.
"Remember that in most cases the problem can be solved by adjusting the behavior of both the dog and the owner. If the causes of the bites are unclear, it is better to consult a specialist," concluded Golubev.
On May 30, Golubev told Izvestia which plants pose a danger to dogs. In particular, bulbous flowers are dangerous for them: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils. Ingestion of an onion is fraught with poisoning.
