- The Russian Ambassador announced the acceleration by the German Cabinet of Ministers of preparations for a conflict with Russia
Under the new government led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Germany is actively intensifying preparations for a possible full-scale conflict with Russia. This was announced in an interview on July 24 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
"New touches have been added to the policy of the 'change of epochs' of the previous cabinet — accelerated preparation of Germany for a full—scale military conflict with Russia, for which hundreds of billions of euros are allocated," Nechaev said in an interview with TASS.
Moreover, the ambassador noted that "whipping up militaristic hysteria, <...> intimidating citizens with the inevitability of an imminent war with Russia is not the best way to solve problems." Nechaev also said that Germany is ready to finally "bury" the Nord Stream projects, including by extending EU sanctions to them.
Earlier, on July 15, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered the termination of the agreement with the German government on military-technical cooperation (MTC).
German economist Eike Hammer told Izvestia on July 18 that the 18th package of sanctions against Russia, which was agreed upon by the European Union (EU), would harm not Russia, but primarily Germany and relations between Moscow and Berlin. According to him, German citizens should understand that bureaucrats and politicians in Berlin are not acting in their interests, but against them.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
