There have been no appeals to the Russian Embassy due to the conflict on the Thai border.

Russian citizens have not contacted the Russian Embassy in Thailand in connection with the armed conflict on the border of Thailand and Cambodia. This was announced on July 24 at the consular department of the Russian diplomatic mission.

"The embassy has not received any appeals from Russians in connection with the clashes in the border areas on the border between Thailand and Cambodia," the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.

The Russian Embassy in Cambodia, in turn, also stated that it had no information about the presence of Russians in the conflict zone. The diplomatic mission called on Russian citizens to refrain from traveling to areas bordering Thailand.

Earlier, the Russian Union of Tourism Industry (PCT) said that tourists from the Russian Federation in Thailand are safe, as evacuation reports relate to the border areas with Cambodia. The organization noted that the resorts, which are in demand among tourists from the Russian Federation, are located far from the conflict zone.

An armed clash took place between Thailand and Cambodia on the morning of July 24. Then the servicemen of both sides accused each other of firing the first shots. Later, the Thai authorities decided to close the border crossings with Cambodia. On the same day, the governors of Thailand's four provinces bordering Cambodia announced the evacuation of residents.

Later, 11 civilians were killed in attacks from Cambodia in Thailand. An eight—year-old boy is among the dead. Two others died in Surin Province, and another in Ubon Ratchathani province.

The conflict between the two countries escalated back in May during a shootout between Thai and Cambodian soldiers at the border. The reason for the escalation was the disputes between Thailand and Cambodia concerning two border territories with ancient monuments of Khmer architecture — the temples of Phraehvihea and Ta Moan Thom.
